Taryn Nugent and Lane Peterson founded Adventurer’s Respite(TM) as a Christian Nonprofit meant to better the local community. We hope to increase sustainable practices as good stewards of our natural resources and pre-existing materials, lessening the burden on the local landfill.
We further aim to reteach forgotten skills like leatherworking, blacksmithing, wood working, and sewing. The nonprofit’s ultimate goal is to become a place for second chance hiring, helping people with disabilities, and partnering with local agencies for provision of social services.
Adventurer’s Respite(TM) is currently a Registered Nonprofit of Texas. We are waiting on an IRS determination of our 501(c)3 status. We anticipate being approved as a Federally Tax Exempt Nonprofit, since we are organized for religious, educational, and charitable purposes. However, the status is currently pending the processing of our 1023 EZ application.
While our application for recognition is pending, donations received now can still become retroactively acknowledged as tax deductible, so long as the IRS approves our application. We acknowledge there is risk for donors who rely on tax deductions, but we are extremely grateful to those who are willing to help in this early phase. Due to this, we plan to offer “Founding Donor” rewards, as outlined in our Donation Competition page. We expect to hear from the IRS on our application by November of 2025 and we will be sending out donation acknowledgement letters for any who donate more than $250.
